Characteristics of Nitinol shape memory alloy
(1) Shape memory
Nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy will automatically restore its shape after a certain heat treatment. This change is the shape memory characteristic of nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy. Shape memory can be divided into one-way shape memory, two-way shape memory and full-process shape memory according to the recovery status.
(2) Hyperelasticity
Nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy will deform when it is subjected to external force, and it will return to its original shape after removing the external force. This is the superelastic characteristic of nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy. After the superelastic deformation of nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy, it will directly lead to martensitic transformation, and remove the external force, it will lead to reverse martensitic transformation.
(3) Damping
The nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy has very good damping properties because of the self-adjustment of the phase transition and the interface and motion generated during the phase transition.
(4) Resistivity
During the deformation process of the martensitic nickel-titanium alloy shape memory alloy, the relationship between the resistance and the strain is linear. When the phase transformation occurs, the slope of the curve will decrease, but the linear relationship will be maintained before and after the martensitic phase.
