Single crystal copper rod was successfully produced using self-designed horizontal continuous casting
equipment. Experimental results showed that the single crystal copper rod with mirror-like surface can be obtained on condition that the temperature of the mould was 1373 ∼1473 K and the casting speed was 20∼30mm/min.

 

The crystallization orientation was [100] and the crystallization face was (200). The mixed crystals (equiaxed and columnar grains) on the rod surface were formed when the mould temperature was lower than the melting temperature(Tm<1356K) in the solidification front and the traction rate increased. Compared with those of unidirectionally solidified polycrystal copper rods, the tensile strength and the yield strength of the single crystal rod decreased by 8. 82% and 91. 62%, respectively, while the elongation and the reduction of cross-section area increased by 24.98% and 3.09%, respectively .

Single crystal copper properties :

Single crystal copper can eliminate the signal attenuation source created at crystalline interface, therefore possess excellent audio features.

With excellent electric and signal transmission capability, coupled with good manufacturing plasticity (with elongation ratio increases more than 2 times), significant stress fatigue resistance (with surface rate reduction increases more than 4 times) whereas it still does not suffer defects resulted from crystal segregation, gas hole, cavity shrinkage and pressure roll, in addition, it enhances the glossy and flawless surface quality.

 

What is OCC Copper wire?

Cable using OCC (Ohno Continus Casting) Copper have an obvious audible advantage over cables comparing with OFC. In fact. the only difference between the reference and transcendent is the conductor materials themselves. The key elements that determine a conductor performance are: the purity of material and the area of grain boundaries. A grain boundary is the meeting point between two grains or crystals of metal. Grain boundaries tend to scatter and to impede the flow of electrons and act as a non-linear resistance to the flow of electric current. These grain boundaries cause the same type of irritating distortion as current crossing from strand to strand. The fewer boundaries, the less the effect on an electric signal as it propagates from one end of the conductor to the other.

OCC : A very high purity (6N) oxide free copper (<8ppm) conductor with larger and linear crystal structure are introduced to cable usage.

Oxygen free copper (OFC) has hundreds of crystal-boundaries per centimeter. OCC copper crystals can be several metres long, resulting in an outstanding sound quality.

OCC are produced through a vertical vacuum continue casting technique (OCC) with a special design which can manufacture ultra-purified and very large linear crystal copper wire.
