Thermocouple Insulator
In a thermocouple with probes, the thermocouple wires(positive & negative) are usually separated by ceramic insulators from Cold end to the hot end.
The advantage of Ceramic is cost-friendly, high temperature resistant, and easy to produce different sizes.
For example the Alumina ceramic is the most commonly used because it can bear the wide range temperature from -50°C to 1500°C.

When sensing the higher temperature like 1800°C to 2200°C, Alumina ceramic will not work. The pure Hafnium and Zirconium can bear this range, but they can not form a tube to insulate. The problem has been troubling the high-temperature industry for years.
